Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing human medicine 2035
Co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, predicts that artificial intelligence will replace doctors, teachers, and other professionals by 2035. He noted that “high-quality medical advice and advanced tutoring” will become free and widely available as AI capabilities develop in handling specialized human skills.
In a series of media interviews in early 2025, Gates outlined a world entering what he termed the “free intelligence era,” where knowledge and advanced services become accessible to all at the lowest possible cost, thanks to AI technologies.
Gates emphasized that professions previously considered safe from automation—such as medicine and education—will be among the first sectors to undergo radical transformation, potentially being partially or fully replaced by AI. He anticipates that within less than a decade, these technologies will provide “high-quality medical advice” and “advanced educational lessons” for free, making expertise that is currently rare and expensive available to everyone.
Gates believes this shift will help address the chronic shortage of qualified personnel in vital sectors like health and education, especially in countries like India and those in Africa, where access to specialized services remains a major challenge.
